Answer comments with a keyword

Start a campaign when someone comments a word like CODE or LINK, on your posts, your ads, or only the ones you pick.

Updated

The Someone comments trigger starts a campaign from a comment. It is what the discount code, price and ad link templates use.

Set it up

  1. Open the campaign and click the trigger card at the top.
  2. Under Starts when, pick Someone comments.
  3. Under Listens on, tick the platforms: Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube or Threads.
  4. Under Which comments, pick A word or Any comment.
  5. With A word, type each word in Words and press Enter. A comment with any of them starts the campaign.
  6. Under Posts or ads, pick Posts and ads, Posts only or Ads only.
  7. Under Accounts, keep Every account or tick the ones you want.

How words match

  • Capitals, accents and emoji do not matter: CODE, code and "Code!!" all match CODE.
  • By default the word can be anywhere in the comment: "can I get the CODE please" matches. It has to be the whole word, so CODE does not match "barcode".
  • Tick Only when the comment is just the word to match only comments that are the word alone (give or take punctuation and emoji). Use it for short words that show up in normal sentences.
  • Several words mean any of them: PRICE, HOW MUCH and COST cover most ways people ask.

Only some posts or ads

Leave Only these posts or ads empty to listen everywhere. To narrow it, paste the ids: a post id as it is, and an ad id with ad: in front, for example ad:120210000000000000. The trigger card then says "Comments with CODE on 3 ads".

Who gets answered

Your moderation runs first, so a campaign never rewards a comment you would not keep:

  • A hidden comment gets no reply and no DM.
  • A comment waiting for review gets nothing until someone decides.
  • If another rule already answered the comment privately, the campaign does not message them again.
  • Someone already in this campaign is not started again until they finish, so commenting twice does not send the code twice.

What each platform allows after a comment

  • Facebook and Instagram: a public reply, and one private message within 7 days. More messages once they tap or reply. See The opening DM with a button.
  • TikTok: a public reply (up to 150 characters, and on ads only under top-level comments), tags and the other steps that send no DM. TikTok does not let businesses message people who only commented.
  • YouTube and Threads: a public reply, tags and the other steps that send no DM. Neither allows private messages. Threads replies can be up to 500 characters. YouTube comments arrive about every 5 minutes, so the reply is not instant there.

A campaign can listen on all five at once; steps a platform does not allow are skipped there. See Every step, and where it works.
