Connect TikTok: your account, your ads and Spark Ads
TikTok connects in two parts: your TikTok account for comments on your videos, and TikTok ads for comments on your ads.

TikTok keeps its app and its ads in separate places, so CommentGate connects them separately. Most brands connect both.

Connect your TikTok account
- Open Accounts and click Connect, then TikTok account.
- Sign in to the TikTok account you post from and allow access. Leave every permission switched on: without them CommentGate can read comments but not hide them, and the account will show Needs reconnecting.
- You land back on Accounts with Your TikTok account is connected. Comments from the last 30 days come in as suggestions.
Connect TikTok ads
- Click Connect, then TikTok ads.
- Sign in to TikTok for Business and pick the ad accounts CommentGate may use.
- Each ad account appears as a TikTok ad account row.
Spark Ads
A Spark Ad promotes one of your existing TikTok posts. When the TikTok account that owns the post is connected too, comments on the Spark Ad arrive the same way as comments on the post, and they are marked as ad comments. Ads from accounts you have not connected, and posts set to "only show in ads", are checked through the ad account instead. Connecting both covers everything.
Your blocked keywords on TikTok ads
Keywords you block in CommentGate are also added to TikTok's own blocked words on your connected ad accounts, so TikTok hides matching ad comments the moment they are posted. TikTok allows up to 500 blocked words per ad account.
What TikTok allows
- Hide, reply and like. TikTok does not let anyone delete other people's comments, so CommentGate hides them instead. You can unhide them at any time.
- Comments you hid with TikTok's own filters in the app show up as hidden in CommentGate, and you can unhide them from there.
- Replies are limited to 150 characters. On ads, replies work only on top-level comments, and not on every kind of Spark Ad.
- Likes work on your TikTok account's posts. TikTok does not allow liking comments on ads, or private replies from other apps.
Once a year
TikTok asks you to reconnect your TikTok account once a year. Accounts shows the date ("Reconnect before ..."), and it turns amber in the last 30 days. Click Reconnect before then. TikTok ad accounts do not need this. See Reconnect an account.
