How automated messages count toward your plan
Every message a campaign sends on its own counts as one, together with comments. Messages you type yourself never count, and people are unlimited.

What counts
- Each message a campaign sends on its own counts as one: a DM, a question, a follow check message, a WhatsApp template, a Send now message.
- Only messages that went through count. A send the platform refused does not.
- Comments count too, one each, from the same monthly allowance.
What does not count
- Messages you or your team type in Messages.
- People and contacts: have as many as you like.
- Steps that send nothing to the person: waits, tags, branches, A/B splits, Send to a person, Send to Zapier or a webhook, Send to Klaviyo.
A public reply under a comment is a reply, not a message, so it is not counted as an automated message.
Where to see it
The sidebar shows Comments and messages used this month against your plan's allowance. Your plan and billing pages under Settings have the details.
If you go over
Extra usage is charged one by one, priced per 1,000. If you set a monthly cap, moderation keeps running past it, nothing more is charged, and drafted replies and automated messages pause until the next month, or until you raise the cap.
While messages are paused, a campaign holds each message and tries again a few times. If they are still paused, the campaign ends for that person with the reason in plain words, for example "Not sent: this month's allowance and spending cap are used up". The same happens when a trial's allowance is used up, until a plan is chosen. If a big launch is coming, raise the cap or move up a plan first.
WhatsApp templates cost extra, from Meta
On top of your plan, Meta charges your WhatsApp account for each delivered template. That charge comes from Meta, billed to the WhatsApp account, not from CommentGate. Replies inside the 24 hours are free on Meta's side. See WhatsApp campaigns and message templates.
