What a campaign is

A campaign answers people automatically when they comment, message you, reply to a story or open your link, and walks them to a code, a link or a sign-up.

Updated

A campaign is a set of steps that runs on its own when something happens: someone comments a word under your post or ad, sends you a message, replies to your story, or opens your chat link. Each person goes through the steps one at a time, so a campaign can send a discount code, wait, check whether they used it and send one reminder.

Everything automated lives on Campaigns. There are no separate tabs for keywords, sequences or growth tools: each of those is a campaign with a different starting point.

What a campaign is made of

  • A trigger: what starts it. For example "Someone comments" with the word CODE, or "Someone opens your link or QR code". See What can start a campaign.
  • Steps: what happens next, in order. A public reply, a DM with a button, a wait, a question asking for their email, a tag, a Yes or No branch. See Every step, and where it works.
  • A status: Draft, Live or Paused. Nothing is sent while a campaign is a draft.

Where to find them

Open Campaigns in the sidebar. Each campaign shows its name, its status, what starts it ("Comments with CODE on Facebook and Instagram") and three numbers: Reached, Clicks and Sales.

The tabs across the top are Campaigns, People (everyone your campaigns have met, with their tags, emails and phone numbers) and Crisis mode.

How campaigns and moderation work together

Your moderation settings always run first. A campaign only answers comments that stay up:

  • A comment that was hidden gets no reply.
  • A comment waiting for review gets nothing until a person decides.
  • A person already in a campaign is not started on it again until they finish.

So a scam comment that happens to contain your keyword is hidden, not rewarded with a discount code.

Start one

  1. Open Campaigns and click New campaign.
  2. Pick a template, or Start from scratch. See Start from a template.
  3. Fill in the blanks the board points out (a web address, a keyword).
  4. Click Turn on.
