- Matching comments are hidden from your Page. The person who wrote the comment and their friends can still see it.
- Catches misspellings
- Yes. Facebook also hides variations it finds, such as misspellings, plurals, abbreviations and words written with numbers or symbols, and they do not count toward the limit.
- Also worth knowing
- Words, phrases and emoji in any language count as keywords.

Why word lists miss things
A blocked words list is worth setting up. It is also easy to walk around, and the people you most want gone know it.
Misspellings
"Cl4im your pr1ze", "w.h.a.t.s.a.p.p", a space in the middle of a word. Facebook catches some variations; the others match what you typed and not much else.
Images
A screenshot of a fake giveaway or a phone number written on a picture has no words to match.
Context
"This is a scam" can be a warning from a loyal customer or an attack. "Link in bio" can be your own team. A list cannot tell them apart, so it hides both or neither.
New wording
Scam scripts keep changing. A list only knows the words you thought of last time.

Questions
Will blocking my brand name hide my customers?
It would, so the list never includes your brand name on its own. It adds lookalike spellings and "support" or "help" versions that impersonators use, which real customers rarely type.
Should I block Amazon or Temu?
Only if comments pointing people elsewhere are a real problem for you. Blocking a marketplace name also hides harmless comments that mention it, so it is off unless you tick it.
Does this work on ads?
Facebook and Instagram apply your list to comments on your content, and their help pages do not separate posts from ads. TikTok and YouTube lists cover your videos. Ad comments are where word lists are weakest, because scammers target them and change their wording often.
Why do some limits say "Not published"?
We only show limits and steps that the platform states on its own help pages. Where a page does not say, neither do we.
Is my list saved?
No. Nothing you type is saved, and it is gone when you close the page.
