Image and GIF checks
How CommentGate reads pictures, GIFs and stickers in comments, what it catches, and where a platform does not share the image.

People do not only spam with words. A comment can be a screenshot with "DM me to claim", a phone number in a picture, an explicit image or another brand's logo. When a comment has a picture, GIF or sticker and it comes with the comment, CommentGate looks at it too.
What it catches in an image
- Text inside the picture: scam wording, phone numbers, "DM me", QR codes.
- Logos and products of other brands.
- Sexual, violent or hateful images.
- Spam and self-promotion.
What it finds counts toward the same switches as words. An image scam is hidden when Hide scams and fake giveaways is on; an explicit image when Hide spam is on. Text in an image never talks CommentGate out of anything: an image that says "this is safe" only looks more like spam.
Hide every picture comment
If you would rather not have any images in your comments, turn on Hide images and GIFs on Setup. It hides every comment that is a picture, GIF or sticker, whatever it shows.
In Activity
- A picture that may be explicit is blurred, with "Blurred because it may be explicit. Open it to look." Click it to see it.
- Click Why on a comment to see "In the image:" with a short description and how each kind of harm scored.
- If the image could not be read, it says so and the comment waits for a person.
