Set a monthly spending cap

Put a ceiling on what extra comments and messages can cost in a month. Past it, hiding keeps working and nothing more is charged.

Updated

Past your plan’s monthly allowance, comments and automated messages keep being handled and the extra ones are charged one by one. A spending cap sets the most you will pay for those extras in a month.

Set the cap

  1. Open Settings, then Plan and billing (or Brand billing, for a brand that is billed separately).
  2. Under Extra comments and messages, turn on Monthly cap.
  3. In Most to pay each month, type an amount in dollars. The hint under the field shows how many extra comments and messages that amount covers.
  4. Select Save cap.

To remove the cap, turn Monthly cap off. That saves at once.

Only the person who pays for the plan can change the cap on Plan and billing. On a brand billed separately, its owners and admins can.

What happens when the cap is reached

The cap limits what you pay, not what CommentGate watches.

  • Keeps running: reading every new comment, hiding what your Setup switches and rules say to hide, and your rules’ automatic actions.
  • Pauses: new reply drafts, and messages that campaigns and flows send on their own (like the DM after someone comments your keyword).
  • Never pauses: messages you or your team type in Messages.

Nothing more is charged for the rest of that month. Paused drafts and automated messages start again on the first of the next month, or as soon as you raise the cap. An automated message that was waiting tries again by itself for a while, so raising the cap quickly lets most of them go out.

Owners and admins get one email when the cap is reached. Plan and billing also says so under your usage.

During the free trial

The trial has no cap to set, because nothing is charged. When a trial uses up its allowance, the same pause applies: moderation keeps running, and drafts and automated messages resume once you pick a plan. See How the free trial works.
